There will be a union general membership meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in the cafeteria of our SoPo building. Everybody is encouraged to come and hear what is going on with your union – and maybe pick up a free union shirt, hat or pin in the process. We have some old schwag to distribute that we found while cleaning out our Portland office.
One topic we’ll be touching on is the upcoming contract negotiations. Now is the right time to be brainstorming ideas for how to carry ourselves forward. We have some ideas of our own but we want to hear from you. We’ve also been cleaning out our office in downtown Portland, and we want to give you a quick update about some items we’re clearing out of there – and we’ll give you a chance to take our old printer, computer or desks. It’s your stuff, after all.
We’ll also give you a quick update on some of the issues we’ve been dealing with. We try not to bombard our members with messages, but that doesn’t mean we’re not doing anything. We’re making sure our members are getting paid more, according to the contract, when they’re asked to step up and do more difficult jobs.
If you can join us for half an hour or so, please do. And bring some ideas so we can keep the union vibrant as we move into our next contract negotiation.
